Madsen Named to ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Marie Eline Madsen of the NC State women's golf team has been tabbed to the 2026-27 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel Preseason Watch List, as revealed on Thursday. She is one of 25 collegiate women's golfers on the list for an award that is given to the best NCAA women's golfer in the country.
Madsen was on the postseason watch list last season after a stellar sophomore season. She earned All-America honors for the second consecutive season, earning WGCA All-America Second Team honors and a nod to the Golfweek Third Team. Madsen was also named to the All-ACC Team and finished No. 26 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd Ranking.
Last season, Madsen played in all 11 tournaments and counted in all 32 rounds to record a school-record 70.88 scoring average with 24 rounds at par or better and 11 rounds in the 60s. She earned three wins, coming at the Cougar Classic, Daniel Island Invitational and City of Oaks Collegiate to break the career wins school record with five. Madsen broke the 54-hole school record with a 15-under 198 (69-67-62) at the Cougar Classic and also recorded seven top-10 finishes and 10 top-20 showings.
In Madsen's career, she sports a 71.06 scoring average with 15 top 10 finishes and 21 top 20 outings. This past summer, she represented Team International at the Arnold Palmer Cup, earning a big point in her team's victory. She also played at the Augusta National Women's Amateur, an event to which only 72 amateurs worldwide are invited.
Madsen will kick off her junior season with the NC State women's golf team on Monday, Sept. 7 to Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, South Carolina.

About the ANNIKA Award:
Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award is annually given to the top female Division One collegiate golfer; the winner voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer and to match the Haskins Award, which acknowledges the top male Division I collegiate golfer. Farah O'Keefe became the 13th ANNIKA Award winner in 2026.
