4/9/2026 2:00:00 PM | Baseball
RALEIGH, N.C. – It will be a battle of Triangle teams this weekend as NC State prepares to host Duke for a three-game series starting on Friday, April 10th, at 6 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on ACCNX and can be heard on 88.1 WKNC and the Varsity Network App.
On Saturday, V Foundation for Cancer Research and NC State Baseball are teaming up for the 3rd annual Victory Over Cancer® Day! Wolfpack alumni Trea and Kristen Turner are passionate advocates for cancer research, and their connection to the V Foundation and NC State led to the creation of Victory Over Cancer Day®. During the event, fans will enjoy a great day of baseball as the Wolfpack faces Duke, with multiple opportunities to honor families affected by cancer and raise funds for lifesaving research.
Fans hoping to donate and help the Wolfpack reach its $60,000 goal can do so HERE.
Friday's game will mark the 301st meeting between the two schools, only 24 miles apart. NC State holds a 167-132-1 record against the Blue Devils and is 60-32 since 1990. With a 28-11 home record during that period, this will be the first meeting in Raleigh since 2024.
Duke won the series last season in Durham, with the last 10 meetings ending in a 5-5 record for NC State.
Probable Starting Pitchers:
Friday: LHP Ryan Marohn (NCSU) vs. RHP Aidan Weaver (DUKE)
Saturday: RHP Heath Andrews (NCSU) vs. RHP Peter Lemke (DUKE)
Sunday: vs. TBA vs. RHP Andy Leon (DUKE)
After a seven-game losing streak, the Wolfpack has won four straight games. In each of those wins, the Pack scored seven runs. The last time NC State scored the same number of runs in three or more games was in 2013, when the Pack scored eight straight runs in three consecutive games, two of which were against Duke.
Following a five-game losing streak last season, the Wolfpack won 11 straight games and aims to do something similar this season. If they win seven more straight games, head coach Elliott Avent would reach 1,100 wins at NC State, making him the only active head coach with that achievement at one school and the 12th Division I coach to accomplish it.
Before Tuesday's midweek game, Sherman Johnson had three extra-base hits on the season; after the game, he recorded his first career multi-home run game. He ranks second on the team with a .351 batting average and is hitting .433 with runners in scoring position.
The Wolfpack bullpen also performed well on Tuesday, as Ryder Garino, Anderson Nance, and Cooper Consiglio combined for three scoreless innings, allowing just one runner on base. Consiglio earned his team-leading third save of the season.
Ty Head hit his 10th home run against the Seahawks, more than doubling his total from his freshman season, making him the first Wolfpack player this season to reach double digits. He is also the only Pack player with double-digit steals, with 19 of the team's 66 stolen bases. This is the most steals by a player since 2014, when Trea Turner had 26.
It is the first time since 2021 that the Pack has had a player with both double-digit home runs and stolen bases. That season, three Pack players—Jonny Butler, Tyler McDonough, and Terrell Tatum—achieved the feat.
Ryan Marohn and Jacob Dudan are among the best in the ACC as both rank in the top 10 in multiple categories. Marohn ranks among the league leaders in ERA (6th), OBA (8th), batters struck out (8th), and wins (tied for 5th).
Dudan leads the league in innings pitched with 50 on the season and has 62 strikeouts, which is sixth in the ACC.
