Madsen Named ACC Co-Golfer of the Month

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Marie Eline Madsen of the NC State women's golf team has been tabbed ACC Co-Golfer of the Month, as announced by the league Friday afternoon. Madsen is the third golfer in program history to be awarded the monthly honor and the first since 2018.
NC State played in three tournaments during the month of March and Madsen logged a 70.75 scoring average, two wins and three top 11 showings. She started the month with her fourth career individual medalist honors to break the school record at the Daniel Island Invitational with a 7-under 209 (70-71-68). The team was the runner-up at the tournament. She followed that up with a tie for 11th at the Briars Creek Invitational with a 1-under 143 (72-72) with the tournament being shortened to 36 holes due to weather.
The Viborg, Denmark native capped off the month with her fifth career individual win to extend her school record, claiming individual medalist honors at the City of Oaks Collegiate. She won by six strokes with a 2-under 214 (74-68-72) to be the only player to finish the 54 holes under par, leading the Wolfpack to its first team win of the season.
Madsen finished at par or under in all but one round across eight with two rounds in the 60s. This season, she leads NC State with a 71.04 scoring average with 19 rounds at par or better, eight rounds in the 60s, six top 10 showings and eight top 20 finishes across nine tournaments.
The other two ACC Golfer of the Month recipients at NC State are Brittany Marchand (2012) and Laura Kowohl (2018).
Madsen and NC State are gearing up for the postseason, as the Wolfpack is set to play at the ACC Championship from Thursday, April 16 to Sunday, April 19 at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina.
