The Series History
The Pack will open play with the Cavaliers on Friday, April 24 at 6pm before game two on Saturday at 2pm and the series finale on Sunday at 12pm. All three games will be streamed on ACCNX and admission is free at Palmer Park.Â
The Series History
- The Wolfpack and Cavaliers have met 53 times prior to the series this weekend. The last time the two programs met was in 2024 in Charlottesville, where the Pack took game two but the Cavaliers claimed the series with wins in game one and three.
- The Pack is 14-12 when playing in Virginia and have won just three of the last 10 meetings. The weekend marks the 18th all-time series between the conference foes.
- NC State averages five runs scored against the Hoos and then that average is met or exceeded, the Pack is 23-4.
- Just three members of the Pack have previously faced the Hoos in their career - MaKayla Marbury, Bailey Edwards, and Rylee Wyman. Wyman appeared in the circle in all three meetings in 2024.
- be the first win over Virginia when they have been ranked
- be the first win over a ranked opponent this season
- be the first win over a ranked opponent since 2024 (March 17 at #22/23 South Carolina)
- be the fifth win over a ranked opponent under Leftwich
- be the second win over the Cavaliers under Leftwich
- be the seventh ranked conference win in program history
- be the 21st ranked road win in program history
- be the 26th of the 2026 campaign
- be the 29th ranked conference win in program history
- be the 81st under Leftwich
- be the 677th in program history
- be the first over the Hoos under Leftwich
- be the third of the 2026 season
- be the sixth overall under Leftwich
- be the ninth overall series win over the Hoos
- be the 52nd ACC series won in program history
- be the 53rd in program history
- With just four weeks remaining in the regular season, the Pack finds itself in a race against the clock as it looks to climb the conference standings and secure its first ACC Tournament berth since 2022.
- Every game carries added weight down the stretch, with the Wolfpack needing key wins in the final month to punch its ticket to postseason play.
- After hosting Cal, NC State will travel to the west coast to take on a top-25 ranked Stanford before traveling to the birthplace of the Nation to take on a top-25 Virginia squad. The final series of the conference action will be in Raleigh against a solid Louisville squad.
- If the season ended TODAY, the Pack would be in the ACC tournament as they check in at 11th in the conference rankings (as of April 21st).
- Conference series wins can be hard to come by and something the Pack has struggled to secure throughout program history.
- In the last 10 seasons, the Pack has totaled 20 conference series wins - averaging 2.0 per season. The most series won in a season for the Pack was six, which was accomplished in both 2006 and 2014.
- No one on the current Wolfpack roster has won more than two series at most in a season while in Raleigh.
- It is worth noting that the last two seasons the Wolfpack has had one of the hardest ACC schedules in the conference, playing at least four ranked teams through eight weeks of conference action.
