CHARLOTTE, N.C. - NC State women's tennis' second-ranked doubles pair of Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe has been named ACC Doubles Team of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The reigning NCAA Doubles Champions earned the honor after a perfect 2-0 weekend to help the Wolfpack secure ranked wins over then No. 7 Cal (Feb. 27) and No. 21 Stanford (Feb. 28) to open conference play.
The award marks NC State's fifth weekly honor of the spring and the third this season for Broadfoot and Osuigwe as a pair. Broadfoot, a junior from Johannesburg, South Africa, now owns seven career ACC Doubles Team of the Week selections, while Osuigwe, a freshman from Bradenton, Fla., has earned three.
Broadfoot and Osuigwe opened the weekend with a 7-5 victory over Cal's Mao Mushika and Johanne Svendsen on court one, the only position the duo has played during dual competition this spring. They followed with a clutch 7-6(0) win over Stanford's Caroline Driscoll and Monika Ekstrand to clinch the doubles point against the Cardinal.
The two victories improved the pair to 18-4 overall this season, including a 9-2 mark in dual play.
