#19 Pack Victorious Over #47 Tar Heels

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – 19th-ranked NC State men's tennis stuns 47th-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill by clinching the win in the final singles match, defeating the Tar Heels 4-3.
In doubles action, North Carolina commanded court two to take the lead while 21st-ranked Martin Borisiouk and Jules Leroux upset 20th-ranked Roan Jones and Anthony Wright to make it even. Cody Benton and Ainius Sabaliauskas fell in the tiebreaker on court three to allow UNC to take the edge moving into singles.
The Tar Heels held the lead for the next two hours while the Pack was still fighting at every possible chance to gain control of the match.
Charlie Camus and William Manning displayed their relentlessness, both losing their first sets and coming back to win their second and third to provide crucial points for the Pack. Bringing the team score to 2-2, Camus tallied a ranked win over No. 120 Niels Ratiu on court five.
Jules Leroux bumped up to court two for singles, taking his first set 6-3, falling in the second 3-6, but coming back in the third 6-3 over 54th-ranked Roan Jones to ensure the Pack would only need to win one of the two remaining courts.
Coming down to the last court, the Raleigh native William Manning was able to finish on top to clinch the match for the red-and-white. The Wolfpack has now defeated the Tar Heels in each of the last three meetings.
NC State improves to 16-3 overall and 8-2 in conference action, sitting at third in the conference standings with just three matches left in the regular season.
