Boston College Evens Series with No. 10 NC State

With the Wolfpack (15-4, 1-1) trailing 4-3, Drew Lanphere led off the bottom of the seventh with his second home run of the season, tying the game at 4-4. Ret Johnson, who went 3-for-3, singled and reached third after a Chris McHugh single and a Dalton Bargo flyout. Shortstop Mikey Ryan went 3-for-5, including an 11-pitch at-bat that ended with a single through the left side, giving the Wolfpack its first lead of the game.
The lead was short-lived as Boston College (11-7, 3-2) loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the eighth. An error allowed the tying run to score, and a wild pitch gave the Eagles the lead. Three more runs scored after a triple, and another three after a home run. The Wolfpack pitchers walked four in the frame, and six of the eight runs were unearned.
This was the first loss of the season for the Pack when having the lead after seven innings.
Jacob Dudan pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, with just one walk and seven strikeouts. Luke Hemric took over from Dudan but faced only one batter after issuing a walk. Collins Black (2-1) came in and was credited with the loss.
A home run by Boston College in the first inning gave the Eagles an early lead. It was the first home run Dudan had allowed all season.
NC State took the lead shortly after, scoring three runs in the second inning. Sacrifice flies from Sherman Johnson and Brayden Fraasman brought in the first two runs. Three consecutive singles followed, capped by Ty Head, who scored Lanphere from second to make it 3-1.
A walk, a hit-by-pitch, and three singles scored three more runs for the visitors to take a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth.
Dudan then retired 10 straight batters from the fourth through the sixth innings.
The series wraps up on Sunday, March 15th, at 12 p.m., as the Pack aims for its first ACC series win of the season at Doak Field.
