Pack Falls at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – NC State women's basketball was unable to stop a balanced attack by Notre Dame on Sunday, falling to the Irish 79-67 in front of a crowd of 8,367.
The second quarter showed to be the difference maker, as the Irish outscored the Pack 30-13 and shot 60 percent from the field. NC State trailed by 20, 47-27, at the half.
NC State won the fourth quarter, 25-14, while finishing the game on a 17-4 run. The Pack trailed by as many as 27 at the start of the fourth quarter.
NC State outshot the Irish from the field (48.2 percent vs. 43.9 percent) and outrebounded ND 37-31. The Pack had 22 turnovers and ND cashed in on 24 points off those mishaps. NC State was also outscored 13-3 in second change opportunities.
Zamareya Jones led the Pack with 21 points, her fifth 20-point game of the season. Khamil Pierre followed with her 17th double-double of the season behind 17 points and 11 rebounds. She is now tied with Genia Beasley (1978-79) at No. 4 for most double-doubles in a season at NC State. Qadence Samuels (12) and Zoe Brooks (11) also joined in double digits in scoring.
NC State is now 17-8 overall and 10-4 in ACC play.
UPCOMING
NC State will stay on the road for its last of three straight road games, set to play at No. 11/15 Duke on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
