#8 Wrestling Loses to #7 Virginia Tech at Home

RALEIGH – Eighth-ranked NC State wrestling fell to seventh-ranked Virginia Tech by a 21-12 score for its first conference loss of the season.
Prior to and during the dual, past, present, and future members of the United States military were recognized for their service as part of military appreciation night.
The wrestling program secured another sell-out in Reynolds Coliseum to mark back-to-back packed duals in Reynolds Coliseum.
The Hokies claimed their first win in Reynolds Coliseum since 2016 and handed the Wolfpack its first conference loss of the season. The loss weakens the chance for NC State to potentially claim the ACC Regular Season Championship.
However, the Wolfpack found a few individual statement wins to put some points on the board in front of its home crowd.
Ryan Jack at 141 lbs, Will Denny at 165 lbs, Matty Singleton at 174 lbs, and Isaac Trumble at heavyweight each collected ranked wins for the red-and-white.
Three of the bouts lost by the Pack were decided by two points or less.
