Thomas’ Floor Routine Seals Victory for #21 Pack Over #14 Clemson

RALEIGH, N.C. – Reigning ACC Specialist of the Week Syniya Thomas sealed NC State gymnastics' 196.125–195.925 home-opening victory over No. 14 Clemson with a clutch 9.900 floor routine, lifting the No. 21 Wolfpack past the Tigers in front of 3,179 fans inside Reynolds Coliseum. The win marked NC State's first victory of the 2026 season.
On the evening, the Pack claimed nine total podium finishes while winning three of the four events, earning its first conference victory of the year and first ACC season-opening dual win since 2024.
NC State has now won three consecutive dual meets against Clemson.
Vault (49.075)
NC State opened the meet on vault, edging Clemson 49.075-48.975 behind podium finishes from Maddie Hall and Ashley Knight. Hall earned her first podium finish of the season with a career-high 9.875, while Knight followed with a 9.850 to secure her second podium appearance in as many meets.
Thomas and Lauren Wright each added solid 9.800s to the rotation. Freshman Autumn Rardin continued to build experience with a 9.750, improving on her score from the season opener at Auburn.
Clemson's Tara Walsh claimed first place with a 9.900.
Bars (48.950)
The Pack moved to bars, where Elle Hadrick shared first place with Clemson's Ella Cesario, as both posted 9.875s. The performance marked Hadrick's first podium finish of the season.
Katie Harper also turned in a strong routine, scoring a 9.850 to tie for third on the event.
Beam (48.800)
NC State topped Clemson 48.800-48.675 on beam, led by Thomas' 9.800 to earn her second event win of the season. Harper and Caroline Volk followed with matching 9.775s to share second place.
Freshman Adasyn Tackett competed on beam for the second consecutive meet, posting a 9.725 in her Reynolds Coliseum debut on her birthday. Fellow freshman Rardin also delivered a 9.725, marking a new personal best.
Floor (49.300)
After Clemson scored a 49.100 on floor in the third rotation, NC State entered the final event needing a strong response, and it delivered. The Pack posted a season-best on any event, 49.300, tied for the 21st-highest floor score in program history.
Jenna Rusk ignited the rotation with a career-high 9.850, followed by Emerson Fisk's 9.800. Rardin continued the momentum with a 9.850 to match her personal best.
Hadrick followed with a clutch 9.900, tying her career high and setting the stage for Thomas. The sophomore delivered once again, earning another 9.900 to clinch the victory for the Pack. Hadrick and Thomas shared second place on the podium.
Clemson's Brie Clark won the event with a 9.925.
