HANAHAN, S.C. – Marie Eline Madsen of the No. 29 ranked NC State women's golf team earned her third career win as she earned individual medalist honors at the 2025 Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston. The sophomore not only started the season with a win, but also broke the 54-hole school record by carding a 15-under 198 (69-67-62). She is the first player in school history to card a sub-200, and broke former teammate Lauren Olivares Leon's 54-hole record (200, -13), which she also achieved at the Cougar Classic in 2023.
The NC State women's golf team carded a 14-over 866 (298-286-282) at Yeamans Hall Club to finish in 12th out of 18 teams. NC State's 282 marked the eighth lowest round in school history, and helped the Pack jump four spots on the leaderboard in the final round of play.
Ole Miss won the Cougar Classic with an 18-under 834.
