CHARLOTTE, N.C. - NC State women's soccer goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The senior anchored the Pack in a 1-0-1 week that included the team's first ACC win of the season and its first top-10 draw since 2022.
Â
"I am very proud of Liv," said head coach Gary Higgins. "She has overcome so much adversity this season. She has played with so much confidence and been very assertive in her decision making the last few games. She has been a great leader for us, on and off the field, and she thoroughly deserves this recognition!"
Â
With the nod, Pratapas is the first Wolfpack player to earn an ACC weekly honor this season and the first to claim ACC Defensive Player of the Week since Maria Echezarreta on Oct. 19, 2021.
Â
The Clemmons, N.C., native opened the week with her third shutout of the year, making four saves in NC State's 1-0 win at SMU. She then backed that up with a three-save performance in a 1-1 draw against No. 7 Florida State, holding the Seminoles, who entered the match averaging 3.38 goals per game, scoreless for nearly 90 minutes before conceding the late equalizer.
On the season, Pratapas has started and appeared in nine games for the Pack with 28 saves. Since the season opener against James Madison, she has lowered her goals against average from 3.00 to 1.33.
Â
NC State has seven games left on their regular season schedule, starting at Virginia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
