RALEIGH, N.C. – 10 members of the NC State softball team earned All-America Scholar-Athletes honors as tabbed by Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Hannah Church, Taylor Ensley, Tori Ensley, Madison Inscoe, Carly Maxton, Anna McGowan, Kendall Simmers, Lisey St. Jean, Teagan Thrunk, and Gabi Wilson all earned the honor this season.
This is the third time Taylor Ensley and Thrunk have earned the honor. For Tori Ensley, Church, and Maxton, this is the second time in their careers they have earned the accolade.
The award is given to student-athletes of member schools who have a 3.5 GPA or higher. The NFCA will publish its own release in the fall with individual scholar-athletes as well as the top 10 academic teams in each division.
The hitters in the group combined for 231 hits, 154 RBIs, and 48 home runs. Taylor Ensley led the squad with 51 hits while Church led the home run category with 19 in her first season with the Wolfpack. Simmers smashed 13 homers in her first collegiate season to set the freshman program record.
Maxton led the pitching staff with 11 wins in the circle and six shutouts, a mark that ranks seventh in the nation.
