BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The NC State men's golf team wrapped up the ACC Championship on Saturday finishing in 12th place at the 71st annual tournament that was held at the Club at Olde Stone.
Nick Mathews led the Pack with a fifth place finish. The Mebane, N.C., native shot a two-under par 70 on Thursday in the first round and followed up that performance with a four-under par 68 to sit at six-under par through 36 holes. He shot an even-par 72 in the final round on Saturday afternoon.
Mathews fifth place finish is the best for an NC State golfer in the ACC Championship since Benjamin Shipp finished in second place in the 2021 ACC Championship played at Capital City Club in Atlanta.
His three-day score of six-under par is tied for the 12th-best in program history in the ACC Championship.
Michael Vick was next for the Pack in a tie for 36th place. Vick rebounded from an opening round 76 to shoot a combined one-under par in the final 36 holes of the event to finish the 54-hole event with a total score of three-over par.
Joey Lenane finished three shots back of Vick in a tie for 46th place at six-over par. Lenane got better every round, moving from a 76 in the first round to a 74 in the second round before closing the event with an even-par round of 72.
Utilizing the substitution rule, Cade McLaughlin, Adam Pedersen and Hunter Stetson all played two rounds in the championship. Pedersen played the final two rounds with a total score of 152 while McLaughlin and Stetson each shot a 153.
Virginia finished the stroke play portion of the championship in first place. They are one of eight teams to advance to match play which begins Sunday morning.
Notre Dame's Jacob Modleski won the ACC Championship with a three-round score of nine-under par.
NC State will now wait to learn where it is headed for the NCAA Regionals. The 2025 NCAA Division I selection show will be broadcast on the Golf Channel on Wednesday, April 30 at 1 pm. NCAA Regionals will take place from May 12-14.
