
Wolfpack Heads to Chapel Hill for Series with the Tar Heels

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State softball team will head down the road to Chapel Hill for its next conference series as it takes on UNC starting on Thursday, April 17 at 5pm.Â
Game two will begin Friday at 5pm and game three will take place at 1pm on Saturday, with all three games on ACCNX.Â
The Pack enters the series with a 22-23 record overall and 4-14 record in Atlantic Coast Conference play.Â

- Sophomore right handed pitcher Carly Maxton topped her own career high in strikeouts with 12 in the game two win over Longwood on April 15. She caught 11 batters swinging and one looks. She tallied a career high six consecutive strikeouts to open the game.
- Her 12 K's make her just the second person on the staff to record a game with double-digit strikeouts in their career (Rylee Wyman vs. UConn on 2/17/24).
- The Townsend, DE native was the only pitcher on the roster with a 0.00 ERA through the first two weeks of the season, a mark that tied for first in the NCAA and ranked first in the ACC.
- In the March 11 win over ECU, she pitched all seven innings and 21 outs BUT left the circle for two batters, therefore she could not earn the complete game. She struck out the Pirates Morgan Johnson all four times she stepped up to the plate - each time catching her swinging. In the 16 pitches Maxton threw Johnson throughout the game, only four of them were balls.
- In the 6-0 win over Boston College on March 22, the sophomore picked up her fifth shutout of the season and it marked the program's 200th.
- The shutout in game two against Longwood marked the sixth of the season for the sophomore and propelled her into T-4th in the nation for shutouts this season. She joins Emma Lemley as the only other ACC pitcher to rank in the top-10 in the nation.
