RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State senior golfer Michael Vick captured individual medalist honors and the Pack finished in third place as a team at the Stitch Intercollegiate held at Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Saturday to wrap up the regular season.
The victory is the second of the season for Vick. He finished as co-medalist back in February at the Battle at Briars Creek in John's Island, S.C.
Vick battled through a rainy Friday that featured multiple stoppages of play to take a one-shot lead on the field with a three-under par 68. The Raleigh native's second round was stopped due to darkness, but he resumed the round on Saturday morning and finished with a 72. In the final round, Vick shot a three-under par 68 to keep the rest of the field behind him.
Senior Nick Mathews was next for the Pack with a three-day score of one-under par. Mathews shot a two-under par 69 in the first round and then followed up with an even-par 71 in the second round and a 72 in the final round.
It's the second top-five finish and fourth top-10 performance of the 2025-26 season for Mathews.
Sophomore Adam Pedersen tied Mathews for third at one-under par. Playing as an individual, Pedersen got better every round of the tournament. In the third round on Saturday, Pedersen shot a six-under par 65 to move up the leaderboard into third place.
The 65 was the best round for any player in the tournament and marked the best 18-hole score of Pedersen's collegiate career. For the season, Pedersen's 65 is the second-best round for an NC State golfer and his score related to par (-6) is tied for the second-lowest by an NC State golfer this season.
Vick, Mathews and Pedersen were third of the five golfers out of 77 that competed this weekend that finished with a 54-hole score under par.
Hunter Stetson and Cade McLaughlin tied for 38th place at eight over par. McLaughlin shot back-to-back rounds of 75 before shooting an even-par 71 on Saturday in the final round. Stetson shot a 75 and 77 before shooting a two-under par 69 in the final round.
Joey Lenane rounded out the NC State lineup in a tie for 52nd place. Lenane shot back-to-back rounds of 74 before closing the event with a 76.
Playing as individuals, Jake Wiktor finished in a tie for 26th place and Xander Goboy tied for 52nd place. Wiktor shot an opening round 70 and then fired a 75 and 73 in the next two rounds to finish the tournament five-over par. Goboy shot an opening round 70 and followed up with rounds of 75 and 79 to complete his weekend.
Lipscomb wont the event by three shots over UNCG. The Pack finished two shots back of the Spartans in third place.
The Stitch Intercollegiate marked the final regular season tournament for the Pack. NC State begins postseason play Thursday when it starts play at the ACC Championship. The ACC Championship is being held this year at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. The teams will play three rounds of stroke play from Thursday to Saturday. The top-eight teams on the leaderboard will advance to match play on Sunday. After quarterfinals and semifinal matches on Sunday, the championship match will be held on Monday morning.
