
#5 Pack Set to Face #1 Wake Forest in Regular Season Finale

RALEIGH – Fifth-ranked NC State men's tennis is set to face top-ranked and undefeated Wake Forest in its regular season finale at home this Saturday. The match is slated for a 5 p.m. start on Saturday at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh.

• Start time for the match is slated for 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, and is set to be played outdoors.
• Nearby parking is available at the West Deck across the street on Varsity Drive.

Series History with Wake Forest (trails 53-16-1)
• Saturday's dual-match marks the 71st meeting between the Wolfpack and the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest leads the series by 37 wins while NC State has only claimed one match in the last 10 meetings
• The two last faced each other last season (March of 2024) in Winston-Salem which resulted in a 2-4 loss for the Pack.

Last Time Out
NC State swept Boston College 4-0 and beat No. 64 SMU 4-1 back at home in Raleigh. Seniors Braden Shick, Luca Staeheli, and Fons Van Sambeek were honored for their dedication to the program over the last four years after the match with the Mustangs.

Team Highlights
• After defeating No. 9 Mississippi State by a 4-1 score on the road, the team qualified for ITA National Team Indoors for the first time since the 2020 season. The win marked the first top-10 win for the program since the 2022 season.
• A strong opening performance at the ITA Team Indoor Championships allowed NC State to take down No. 8 Kentucky by a 4-1 score, marking the second top-10 win of the season.
• Displaying resilience and determination at home, the Pack defeated No. 6 Stanford 4-2 at home playing on indoor courts, marking the third top-10 win of the season.
• The team moved up to No. 6 in the rankings on March 4, tying for the program's best-ever ranking, the last time was in March 2020.
• After defeating No. 5 Virginia and tallying the fourth top-10 win of the season, the team landed fifth in the ITA rankings, breaking the highest team ranking in program history.
• The Pack is currently on a 13-match winning streak that began just before the start of conference action, this streak also includes four straight 4-0 sweeps over ACC opponents in the middle of March.
• With a 12-0 record in league play, the Pack has broken its record for single-season conference wins that was set last year.
• Last week, the team moved up to No. 4 in the country, breaking the highest team ranking in program history for the second time this season.
Individual Highlights
• The Pack holds three players ranked in singles (No. 29 Braden Shick, No. 32 Martin Borisiouk, and No. 89 Luca Staeheli) and two pairs ranked in doubles (No. 7 Braden Shick & Fons Van Sambeek and No. 12 Jules Leroux & Luca Staeheli).
• Going undefeated in doubles and singles against No. 21 Harvard, LSU, and No. 9 Mississippi State all in the same week, Jules Leroux and Luca Staeheli claimed all of the ACC Weekly Awards as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, January 28. Staeheli was named Player of the Week, Leroux was named Freshman of the Week and the two together were named the Doubles Team of the Week.
• Braden Shick earned his first conference weekly honor of the season when he was named ACC Player of the Week on February 11 for his dominant victory over No. 20 Paul Inchauspe.
• After going undefeated in singles and doubles and making huge contributions to win three straight matches over UNC Greensboro, No. 22 California, and No. 6 Stanford in just five days, Jules Leroux and Luca Staeheli racked up more ACC Weekly Awards. Leroux was named Freshman of the Week while Staeheli was Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 4.
• Martin Borisiouk took home his well-deserved ACC Player of the Week honor on Tuesday, March 11 after he upset his opponent to clinch the team's win over No. 5 Virginia on the road.
• Fons Van Sambeek was named ACC Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 18 after he went undefeated in singles and doubles across matches with No. 32 Florida State and No. 34 Miami. Alongside his doubles partner, Braden Shick, they upset Florida State's leading doubles pair that were ranked third in the country at the time.
• Both Borisiouk and Leroux have not recorded losses in singles action since February.
• Leroux, Manning, Van Sambeek, Shick, and Staeheli have reached double figures in singles action from the dual season alone.
• Shick and Van Sambeek are on a six-match winning streak in doubles.
