No. 7/8 NC State Ready for Georgia Tech in 2025 Ally ACC Tournament Quarterfinals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 7/8 NC State women's basketball team is prepped for the 2025 Ally ACC Tournament, the longest-running conference tournament in the country (since 1978). With a double bye and the No. 1 seed, the Pack will play in the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals against 9-seed Georgia Tech on Friday, March 7 at 1:30 p.m. at First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network.
ABOUT NC STATE
- The Wolfpack won its seventh ACC Regular Season Championship, second in the last 34 years and under head coach Wes Moore after defeating SMU 69-45 on the road Sunday
- NC State finished 16-2 in the ACC to share the regular season title with Notre Dame. Winning the head-to-head matchup vs. Notre Dame after defeating the Irish 104-95 in double overtime, the Pack clinched the No. 1 seed for the seventh time in school history at the ACC Tournament
- The Pack is No. 7 in the AP Poll, which is the best ranking this season. NC State is in the top 10 for the fourth time this season, and also in the AP top 10 for the 219th week in program history. NC State is No. 8 in the WBCA Coaches Poll
- Four of the Pack's five losses have come to AP Top 15 teams: South Carolina (5), TCU (8), LSU (9) and UNC (14)
- NC State has won 20 of the last 22 games with a total of five ranked wins after starting the season 4-3
- NC State finished the regular season undefeated at home with a 16-0 mark. This marked the third time in program history the Pack has finished the regular season undefeated at home, the second time in the Wes Moore era
- The Pack has also won 21 straight home games (stretching back from last season), tied for the fifth longest active streak in the country
- The NCAA WBB Committee tabbed NC State a No. 2 seed, eighth overall, as it stands right now (Birmingham Region) on Feb. 27
- NC State is No. 17 in the NET and has an average opponent NET opponent ranking at No. 69, which is fourth in the country (trailing South Carolina- 61, Duke - 67 and Iowa - 66), as well as the 20th toughest strength of schedule in the country
- NC State is one of 13 schools in the country to have picked up at least six Quad 1 NET wins. The Pack is one of 10 schools to have at least 15 top 100 wins
- The Pack has four players who average double digits in scoring and has six who average 6.6 points per game or more
- Aziaha James leads NC State with 18.0 points per game, which is No. 6 in the ACC, and 65 made 3-pointers, the 15th most in a single season in school history
- James is also No. 20 on the all-time scoring list (1,483) and No. 7 on the career 3-pointers made list (173) at NC State
- Madison Hayes paces the Pack with 7.1 rebounds per game and has a team's most 62 offensive rebounds
- Saniya Rivers leads the Pack in steals per game (1.7) and blocks per game (1.4). She is on the USBWA Midseason Player of the Year Watch List
- Zoe Brooks has a team-leading 3.9 assists per game
- Tilda Trygger is logging a 53.6 field goal percentage (75-140), which is the best among players with 100+ attempts
- The Pack leads the ACC and is second in the country in least fouls per game (12.0). NC State is second in the ACC in defensive rebounds per game (29.8), which is eighth in the country, as well as turnovers per game (12.1) and rebounds per game (41.79), which are 14th and 17th in the country. NC State is also third in turnovers per game (12.0), assist/turnover ratio and field goal percentage defense (38.6)

- The Pack has won seven ACC Tournament Championships, three with Wes Moore: 1980 (W, 85-75 vs. Maryland), 1985 (W, 81-80 vs. North Carolina), 1987 (W, 57-56 vs. Virginia), 1991 (W, 84-61 vs. Clemson), 2020 (W, 71-66 vs. Florida State), 2021 (W, 58-56 vs. Louisville) and 2022 (W, 60-47 vs. Miami)
- NC State is 27-16 in quarterfinals games, 18-10 in semifinals games and 7-11 in championship contests
- NC State has the third most championships with seven among active ACC schools (UNC- 9 and Duke- 8)
- The Pack is 5-2 vs. Georgia Tech and 2-1 vs. Virginia Tech in ACC Tournament games
- NC State has earned a double bye for the eighth time, all under Coach Moore

SCOUTING GEORGIA TECH
- Georgia Tech was projected to finish 10th and came in tied for eighth with a 9-9 ACC mark, as well as 22-9 going into Friday after defeating Virginia Tech 72-57 in the second round of the Ally ACC Tournament
- The Yellow Jackets started the season 15-0 and finished the regular season on a four-game losing skid
- Kara Dunn was tabbed to the All-ACC First Team. She is entering the tournament averaging 15.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game and a team-leading 39 steals
- Tonie Morgan was named to the All-ACC Second Team, averaging 13.3 points and 5.6 assists per game
- Dani Carnegie was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and tabbed the ACC Sixth Player of the Year. She has averaged 13.1 points per game in her rookie season
- Zoesha Smith paces GT with 6.2 rebounds per game
SERIES HISTORY (NC STATE LEADS 53-25)
- The Pack and Georgia Tech could face off for the 79th time of the all-time series and eighth time in the ACC Tournament with a 5-2 edge
- The first meeting between these two teams was in 1980, resulting in a 97-38 home win for NC State
- NC State has won two straight over the Yellow Jackets, including an 83-68 road win at No. 20/20 GT a few weeks ago
- NC State is 4-2 on a neutral floor vs. the Yellow Jackets
LAST TIME OUT
- The Pack defeated SMU on the road, 69-45 to clinch a share at the ACC Regular Season Championship
- James registered 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists
- Brooks also recorded a game-high tying 19 points with three boards and three assists
- Hayes finished with her fifth double-double of the season behind 18 points and 11 rebounds
- Rivers logged a near triple-double with four points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 11 assists with three steals and one block
- The Pack outrebounded the Mustangs 48-28 and assisted on 21 of 28 field goals

The winner of the quarterfinals matchup will move on to the semifinals to play the winner of the 4-seed Florida State vs. 5-seed North Carolina on Saturday, March 8 at noon. That game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
