Favour Ossai Joins NC State Women’s Basketball

RALEIGH – International prospect Favour Ossai has joined the NC State women's basketball team ahead of the 2026-27 season, as announced by head coach Wes Moore Wednesday. Ossai is a 6-2 forward from Delta State, Nigeria.
"We're excited to have Favour join the Pack," said Moore. "She will provide us with some size and depth on the interior. It will take her some time to catch up after missing summer workouts, but she's focused and ready to go."
Ossai spent the last three years in Japan, playing at Fukushima Toryo High School. Having played basketball for only six years, Ossai developed against competitive club and school teams in Japan.
At her high school, Ossai was the team's leading scorer, averaging clips of nearly 27.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.
Fukushima Toryo earned a qualification spot to represent its region at the Winter Cup, which is Japan's High School Basketball Championship. Ossai showed out and was one of the top 10 scorers in the country at the tournament. She averaged a double-double of 25.3 points and 20.6 rebounds per game.
In the Winter Cup, Ossai logged 35 points and 24 rebounds against Saibi High School, propelling Fukushima Toryo to its first-ever tournament victory. Ossai followed up that performance with 26 points and 25 boards in the win over Saitama Sakae before falling to Yakumo Gauken, in a game where she logged 15 points and 13 rebounds. During the regular season in 2025, Ossai dropped a career-best 38 points over Yuzawa Shohku High School.
Ossai also represented her home country on the Nigeria U16 Team before she went over to Japan. She also played in the International School Sports Federation Championship in 2022.
Ossai is Moore's 10th international player while at the helm of NC State women's basketball. This marks Moore's sixth Wolfpack team with two or more international players, as Ossai's teammate, Khady Leye, is from Senegal.
Ossai came to campus at the start of the fall 2026 semester.
