RALEIGH, NC—For the second time this season, NC State Baseball will play UNCG in a midweek game. The Spartans will come to Doak Field on Tuesday, April 1, at 6 p.m. to take on the Wolfpack. The game will be broadcast on ACCNX, and fans unable to watch can catch it on WKNC 88.1 FM and the Varsity Network app.
The two teams met in Greensboro at the beginning of March, with NC State claiming a 10-0 victory. With the win, the Wolfpack improved its series record against the Spartans to 34-10 and entered Tuesday's game with a 21-4 record at the Doak against the Spartans. Last season, UNCG won 18-3 in Raleigh.
NC State will look to stack up wins in the coming week, entering Tuesday's contest with a 1-4 record in the team's last five games. The Wolfpack dropped their first ACC series of the season, falling to Duke twice this past weekend.
The Duke series saw six different NC State players combine to hit eight home runs over the three-game series, giving NC State the most in a series this season. On Saturday, Ryan Jaros hit his first home run in a Wolfpack uniform in NC State's 14-6 victory over the Blue Devils. His long ball proved the winner, turning a 5-5 game into a 7-5 game. The Wolfpack is 10-1 in games when they hit two or more home runs in a game compared to 3-6 when they hit zero.
NC State has 37 home runs on the season, with Josh Hogue, Chris McHugh, and Alex Sosa all with five to lead the team. NC State is seventh in the ACC and 56th in the nation in home runs hit.
Freshman Anderson Nance picked up his fourth win of the season after coming in relief in NC State's lone win over Duke. Nance pitched five innings, allowing just one run on three hits with five strikeouts. It was the second time Nance has gone five innings this season, with the first coming against UNCG earlier in the season to earn his first win. He struck out a career-high six batters against the Spartans.
NC State is 5-2 against in-state opponents in 2025. Last season, NC State finished 8-9 against in-state opponents. Since taking over the NC State baseball program in 1997, head coach Elliott Avent has led the Pack to a 366-189 (.659) against in-state foes.
The Wolfpack has just one loss this season when leading after the sixth inning. Jacob Dudan has looked like his freshman All-American self. Dudan hasn't allowed a run in his past four outings while allowing just two hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts.
