Pack Claim Victory Over No. 24 Fighting Irish 4-2

SOUTH BEND, IN- The No. 15Â NC State Wolfpack capped off its first weekend of ACC competition with a 4-2 victory over the No. 24 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday afternoon.
After a 4-1 win over Louisville on Friday evening, the Wolfpack aimed to secure a second win of the weekend before heading back to Raleigh. The Pack started strong in doubles, building early leads on courts one and two. The No. 2 ranked doubles team of Maddy Zampardo and Gabriella Broadfoot continued their impressive run, claiming their sixth consecutive win of the season with a 7-5 victory over Carrie Beckman and Maria Olivia Castedo of Notre Dame. Meanwhile, freshman Michaela Laki and sophomore Kristina Paskauskas sealed the doubles point for NC State with a 6-4 win on court three.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles play, the Wolfpack looked to carry the momentum forward. Notre Dame answered with a point on court one, where Michaela Laki fell 6-1, 6-0. NC State's Anna Zyryanova, No. 100 Maddy Zampardo, and No. 73 Gabia Paskauskas responded winning their first sets, setting the stage for the Pack.
Zyryanova controlled her match, securing a 6-2, 6-2 win over Bojana Pozdner of Notre Dame on court two. Freshman Gabia Paskauskas followed suit, overcoming a tough first set to cruise to a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Rylie Hanford, putting NC State's third point on the board.
The Fighting Irish responded with a victory on court five, as Kristina Paskauskas fell 7-6, 6-4, closing the gap to 3-2.
With the match on the line, sophomore Gabriella Broadfoot delivered a clutch performance on court four. After dropping the first set 6-4 to Carrie Beckman, Broadfoot rallied to claim a 6-1, 7-6 (4) win, clinching the victory for the Wolfpack.
Next up, NC State will host the Virginia Tech Hokies on Friday, March 7, at 2:00 PM at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center for its first home ACC match of the season!
