Pack Fall Short 4-3 In Tough Matchup Against No. 10 Texas

AUSTIN, TX – The No. 19 NC State women's tennis team opened their two-match weekend in Texas with a battle against the No. 10 Texas Longhorns, ultimately falling short in a 4-3 decision.
The Pack set the tone early, securing the doubles point under the watch of No. 5 Maddy Zampardo and Gabriella Broadfoot, along with the No. 60 pair of Jasmine Conway and Kristina Paskauskas, who both earned victories on their respective courts.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles, the Longhorns quickly gained momentum, taking wins on courts one and five. However, Zampardo and Broadfoot each delivered singles victories for the Pack. Zampardo fought through a tight match, rallying in the third set to defeat Meri 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, while Broadfoot followed suit with a hard-fought 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win.
Despite strong comebacks from Gabia Paskauskas and Conway in their second sets, both were faced with a tough battle in the third, allowing Texas to clinch the 4-3 victory.
Looking ahead the Pack will travel to Dallas, Texas this Sunday, Feb. 2 at noon to take on SMU.
