RALEIGH – No. 3 seed NC State men's soccer was downed by No. 6 seed Syracuse in the second round of the ACC Tournament Sunday at Dail Soccer Stadium.
Despite leading the game in the amount of attacks on goal, NC State was unable to find the back of net when facing Syracuse for the second time in less than two weeks.
The game marked the first time the program has hosted a second round of the ACC Tournament in Raleigh. In result, the match is just the second loss of the season for the Pack and first loss at home.
The last time NC State gave up three or more goals was when it last played Syracuse in the first round of the ACC Tournament two years ago, which was played in New York. After only giving up four goals all season, three goals were achieved by the Orange tonight.
With 20 shots taken in total, the Pack forced the opposing goalkeeper, Tomas Hut, to make nine saves as well as a team save that denied a goal that had to be reviewed by referees to confirm.
