
Buesgens and Tucker are Champions at Southeast Open Wrestling Tournament

SALEM, Va. – Opening its 2025-26 season at the Southeast Open in Virginia on Sunday, November 2, NC State wrestling claimed two brackets with Koy Buesgens and Brogan Tucker going undefeated.
15 members of the NC State wrestling program took part in the competitive season-opening tournament on Roanoke College's campus on Sunday. Four of the 15 found a place on the podium in their respective brackets.
14th-ranked Koy Buesgens had a strong day, going 4-0 and taking out three-time NCAA qualifier and seventh-ranked Willie McDougald of West Virginia in the finals match of 149 lbs.
Making his collegiate debut, Brogan Tucker championed the 157 lb freshman/sophomore division, going 5-0 and defeating his teammate Latrell Schafer 5-4 in the finals match.
Finishing third in the 133 lb open division, Troy Hohman took out 14th-ranked Ethan Oakley of North Carolina in the quarter-finals match with a takedown after trailing in the third period.
