ORLANDO, Fla. – Continuing on his hot streak, Martin Borisiouk defeated Michigan's Max Dahlin on Friday to advance to the NCAA Singles Championship semifinals. He is the first player in NC State men's tennis program history to do so since 1978.
After falling in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship last fall, Martin Borisiouk has climbed an impressive amount of levels, reaching the semifinals of the tournament this season.
The senior for the Pack rallied to defeat Michigan's Max Dahlin Friday morning after dropping the first set. With a final score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, Borisiouk is now just one of four left in the men's singles bracket fighting for a national title.
Also remaining in the fight is defending champion, Michael Zheng of Columbia, as well as Paul Inchauspe of Princeton and Trevor Svajda of SMU. Borisiouk faced Zheng back in the NCAA Sweet 16 in May, which resulted in a two-set loss for the member of the Pack.
On Saturday, Borisiouk and Svajda will compete for a spot in the finals. Fans wishing to follow along can find all information here.
