POSTGAME QUOTES
Head Coach Wes Moore
Opening Statement:
On front court:
"Again, I'm not going to limit this to them. My whole team's got to be better. We have been playing as well as anybody. I don't know if we got on the ball enough. I'll see when we look at the film. Then they need to make reads if they're double-teamed. They need to slow down, and make the pass out, because when I look at the turnovers, we had two interior players with five turnovers, and four turnovers. But again, our whole team had too many turnovers with 21 turnovers and 20 assists. Again, this is a step in the right direction. So hopefully we can continue that trend, but I think I think the whole team, and from coaches to players, we just need to do a better job and clean this stuff up in a hurry or we'll be in trouble."
On Rhode Island:
"I mean, obviously, I haven't looked at them yet. The coaches, as soon as we get upstairs, they'll hand me the scout and the film and all that. I do remember playing them a couple of years ago; they're long, they're athletic, and it was a very close game. So like I said, the games are getting tougher, and we're going to have to grow up, clean it up, and fix it in a hurry because the competition's rising. Just look at the upsets going on all around. I mean, a lot of power four teams are getting beat by mid majors. So you have to show up every night, and like I said, you have to put the preparation in. Which, like I said, that's worrying me about this team. The great teams I've had, they bought in. They wanted to watch film. They wanted to take away the other team's go-to stuff, you know? They got excited about shutting down a certain set, certain offense, whatever. So, we got to hope we can reach that point with this team."
Student-Athletes Quotes: (Zoe Brooks and Maddie Cox)
On getting her first start of the season:
MC - "I found out today when going over film and I was just excited to finally get an opportunity to show what I can do out there."
On giving up 26 third-quarter points:
ZB - "I'll give them credit. They did get hot and started knocking down shots, and got a couple And-1s. I think that we began to lose focus. We had a large lead coming into the second half so I think that was us losing focus, but credit to them for hitting some shots."
On cleaning up team turnovers:
MC - "We've always emphasized chemistry and bonding as a team. I think that got a little sloppy in the second half, but we will continue to pick that up and move on to the next game.
ZB - "I feel like a lot of the turnovers were travels but I don't know if they were really travels, but I feel like a lot of them were travels."
