Pack Soars Past Eagles in Four Sets

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The NC State volleyball team defeated Boston College in four sets Friday evening to move to 12-13 overall and 5-10 in conference play.
Senior outside hitter Courtney Bryant paced the squad with 20 kills to mark her fourth match of sorts this season. She added 11 digs to her stat line to mark her 11th double-double of the season. She also tallied a career high five service aces.
The Pack took the first point of the evening thanks to a kill by senior middle blocker Lily Cropper. The rest of the opening frame was a back-and-forth battle, with neither team leading by more than two at a time. The Eagles were leading, 15-14, at the media timeout but the Pack regained the lead (19-17) after a 4-0 scoring run.
Defensive struggles at the end of the set allowed Boston College to take the opening frame, 25-23. Bryant led all scorers with six kills through the first set.
The Wolfpack controlled the second set from the start. Redshirt-junior setter Elaisa Villar tallied the Pack's fifth service ace of the evening to begin the frame. NC State led by as many as eight (19-11) in the frame. The Eagles managed to minimize the deficit to five (20-15), but NC State responded a kill thanks to freshman middle blocker Talia Francom.
NC State took the second set, 25-20 and Bryant led all scorers with 13 kills on 26 attempts with just two errors.
The third frame was a set of runs for both teams, but it was NC State who maintained momentum. Despite several attempts by the Eagles to take more than a one-point lead, the Pack continued to answer and took the set, 25-22.
Bryant continued to dominate offensively as she concluded the third set with 17 kills on 34 attacks and just three errors.
The fourth set was controlled by the Wolfpack from the start, and it would go on to take the set, 25-19.
Villar finished with 37 assists and 12 digs. Freshman Jordan Smith, in addition to Cropper and Francom all tallied five blocks for the Pack.

The Pack will head to Syracuse to take on the Orange on Sunday, November 16. First serve is scheduled for 12:30pm and the match will be streamed on ACCNX.
