Women’s Soccer Concludes 2025 Season with Loss at UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – NC State women's soccer (5-9-4, 4-4-2 ACC) closed out its 2025 campaign with a 1-0 loss to North Carolina (12-6-0, 6-4-0 ACC) on Thursday night at Dorrance Field. The Wolfpack's five wins mark its most in a season since 2022, wrapping up the first-year under head coach Gary Higgins.

After a scoreless opening stretch, UNC broke through in the 30th minute on a goal from Bella Devey. NC State nearly equalized before halftime when Mana Nakata's 43rd-minute free kick struck the post, but the Pack entered the break trailing 1-0.

NC State pressed hard in the second half, earning three corners and creating multiple chances, but couldn't find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas kept the Pack within striking distance with key saves in the 76th and 83rd minutes, but the Tar Heels held on for the 1-0 win in the regular season finale.

Of Note:

NC State finishes the season with five wins, its most in a season since 2022.
The Pack earned four ACC wins this season, tied for its most since 2021 when it also recorded four conference victories.
The loss moves the Pack to 3-50-2 in the all-time series against UNC.
