
Jefimova Leads Wolfpack with Gold as Team Earns Five Medals at World Cup Stop #1

CARMEL, Ind. - Select athletes from the Wolfpack closed out a three-day showing at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup Stop #1, earning 18 finals appearances and bringing home five medals to cap off a strong start to the 2025-26 season.
The meet concluded Sunday afternoon on a high note as freshman Eneli Jefimova delivered a standout performance, claiming gold in the 50m breaststroke to wrap up her weekend. Jefimova had already made her mark earlier in the competition, earning silver in the 100m breaststroke and advancing to the finals in all three of her events.
Sophomore Kaii Winkler captured his first-ever World Aquatics medal, taking bronze in the 100m freestyle with a time of 46.11 on day two of competition.
Senior Aiden Hayes continued to build momentum on the world stage, finishing 5th in the 50m backstroke, 7th in the 100m butterfly, and 8th in the 50m butterfly. Leah Shackley advanced to three finals of her own, while Daniel Diehl reached the top eight in both the 100m and 200m backstroke events.
Pack pros Katharine Berkoff and Kacper Stokowski added to the medal count as well. Berkoff reached three finals (100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke), claiming bronze in the 50m backstroke on the opening day of the competition. Stokowski made a strong return to the pool with three finals appearances (200m, 100m, and 50m backstroke), earning silver in the 100m backstroke on the final day of competition.
Looking ahead:
The Wolfpack return to collegiate competition next weekend, traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, for the Dual Meet Tournament hosted by Georgia Tech, taking place October 17–18.
