
James Selected to Wooden Award Top 25 Midseason Watch List

LOS ANGELES – NC State women's basketball standout Aziaha James has been selected to the 2024-25 John R. Wooden Award Top 25 Midseason Watch List. James was one of 50 on the preseason watch list and this marks her first time making the top 25. The senior is one of four players in the ACC to be listed on the top 25 list.
James leads the Pack in scoring with 16.5 points per game, as well as averages 5.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game as a senior. She has logged double digits in scoring in all 14 games this season, currently on a 23-game streak of 10+ point games, and has registered five 20+ point games this year. James was an All-ACC Preseason Team choice and chosen on the Jersey Mike's Naismith Women's Player of the Year Watch List presented by Axia Time.
The Virginia Beach, Virginia native registered a season-high 27 points off the bench vs. TCU and followed that up with 21 points against Coastal Carolina. James had 21 points and six boards against James Madison and is coming off 17 against Boston College. In seven of 14 games, James has pulled down 7+ rebounds.
As a junior, James led the Pack with 16.8 points per game with 4.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 31.8 minutes per game last year to be an All-ACC First Team selection. She increased her scoring average by 10 points, marking the highest scoring average increase by any ACC player last year (6.8 PPG to 16.8 PPG). During the NCAA Tournament Final Four run, James averaged 23.4 points and 3.2 assists per game, and was tabbed to the Portland 4 Regional Most Outstanding Player and All-Tournament Team.
The Wooden Award All-American Team will be announced the week of the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight round, and the winner will be presented at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on April 11, 2025.
