
No. 6/8 NC State Travel to Texas For Top 10 matchup

AUSTIN, TX – The No. 6/8 NC State men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set for an exciting top-10 quad-meet in Austin, TX, on January 24-25. Hosted by the Longhorns, this marks the first ever Eddie Reese Texas Showdown, featuring top-tier competition from No. 1/2 Texas, No. 4 Arizona State, and No. 18/1 Virginia.
The meet this weekend will be streamed live on ESPN, with results available on Meet Mobile. Diving results will be posted on divemeets.com.
The Wolfpack head into the weekend totaling 28 swimmers in the top-10 after a dominant sweep of North Carolina at home in Raleigh on January 17. The NC State women earned a decisive victory (170.5-129.5), while the men followed suit with a strong win (165-134). The women's team remains undefeated in dual meet action, holding a perfect 3-0 record as they head into the weekend. The NC State men, with a 2-1 record, are eager for a rematch against the No. 4 Arizona State Sun Devils, the only team to hand them a loss this season.
The latest CSCAA rankings, released Thursday afternoon, saw the Wolfpack women rise to No. 8 in the team rankings, while the men held steady at No. 6.
Scouting the Longhorns:
The Longhorns are atop the CSCAA rankings this week, with the women ranked No. 2 and the men holding the No. 1 spot. Both Texas teams head into the weekend undefeated, with a perfect 4-0 record in dual meets. Additionally, Texas showcases its impressive 58 swimmers who have recorded times in the top 10.
Scouting the Cavaliers
The Virginia women's swimming team enters the weekend ranked No. 1 in the CSCAA standings, undefeated 3-0. Leading the team is senior Gretchen Walsh, an 11-time world record holder. The Cavaliers also feature an impressive 36 swimmers who have recorded top-10 times, setting the stage for an exciting weekend.
Scouting the Sun Devils
This marks the third meeting of the season between NC State and the Arizona State Sun Devils, following their matchup in the home opener back in October. The Sun Devils head into the weekend with a No. 4-ranked men's team, maintaining an 8-0 record in dual competition. Arizona State also boasts 20 swimmers with top-10 times.
Looking ahead, the Wolfpack will return to Raleigh for their final dual meet of the season on January 31, where they will honor their seniors and fifth-year athletes in a matchup against UNCW.
