Robinson Takes Down No. 2 Spratley, Team Records First Loss

STILLWATER, Okla. – Fifth-ranked NC State wrestling collected its first loss of the season by a 34-3 score Monday night when facing third-ranked Oklahoma State on the road.
In a much anticipated match-up featuring 18 ranked wrestlers, 13 of which are in the top-15, NC State suffered its first loss of the season after have a 7-0 record in front of over 8,000 fans.
Redshirt-freshman, ranked 11th in the country, Vince Robinson returned to the lineup at 125 pounds after not competing in over a month. In his true fashion, he came out with a flashy win taking down second-ranked Troy Spratley by a 7-3 decision to start the dual.
Although several members of the Pack came close to securing team points, the 125 pound bout would be the only points on the board for NC State by the end of the night.
Six of the nine lost bouts for the Wolfpack were in tight scoring throughout the seven minutes, resulting in decision losses. Oklahoma State was able to strengthen its lead with bonus point wins in the other three match-ups.

NC State continues conference action on the road at Virginia. The Friday night dual is set for a 7 p.m. start time in Charlottesville.
