
Freshman Leah Shackley Named Swimming World’s Female High School Swimmer of the Year

RALEIGH, N.C. – Wolfpack swimming freshman Leah Shackley was named Swimming World's High School Female Swimmer of the Year, as announced by the publication on Sunday.
Shackley was also named Swim Swam's Ultra Swimmer of the Month on Thursday following her standout performances at the 2024 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Canberra, Australia.
The Wolfpack freshman was one of three American swimmers to win two individual events at the 2024 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in August, winning gold in the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke. She also helped lead the 4x100-meter mix medley relay team to a first-place finish.
Shackley, a freshman from Bedford, Pennsylvania, ranked as the No. 1 female swimmer out of Pennsylvania and No. 16 nationally. She ranks seventh all-time in the U.S. girls' 17-18 age group in the 100-meter backstroke and 10th in the 200-meter backstroke.
