Pack Wins Fourth Straight Match After Defeating Rams in Straight Sets

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team defeated Virginia Commonwealth, 3-0, Friday evening in Reynolds Coliseum in game one of the Summit Hospitality Group Open.

Breaking Down the Match
- The Pack opened the match with a 5-2 scoring run, highlighted by two service aces from junior defensive specialist, Sydney Daniels.
- VCU managed to tie the set on two occasions but were unable to take a lead to slow the Wolfpack.
- NC State took set one, 25-18, after a service ace from senior Jada Allen gave the Pack set point. Five members of the Pack record two kills in the opening frame (Sophie Groom, Ava Brizard, Courtney Bryant, Jada Allen, Amanda Rice).
- The Rams kept things close to start the second set, but after the Pack tied things eight-all, VCU recorded three consecutive errors, allowing NC State to regain a lead.
- NC State led by as many as nine points (19-10) in the second set and went on to win the set, 25-15.
- Senior opposite Amanda Rice led the Pack with six kills and a .667 hitting percentage in set two. She also tallied two digs, one block, and one service ace.
- Similar to set two, VCU kept things close, but a kill by junior middle blocker Sophie Groom started a 6-1 scoring run by the Pack. The Rams were unable to minimize the deficit, as NC State led by as many as seven in the final set. The Wolfpack earned the win (25-19) and took the match, 3-0.
- Rice led the Pack with four kills in the third set, followed by Brizard who tallied three.
- NC State recorded six service aces in the win and held the Rams to a .068 hitting percentage.
- The match marked the fourth straight win for the Pack, the 67th under Head Coach Luka Slabe, and the 805th in program history.
