
No. 14 Wolfpack Opens NCAA Tournament Against South Carolina State

RALEIGH, N.C. – Fourteenth-ranked NC State women's tennis is set to welcome South Carolina State to Raleigh to open up first-round action of the NCAA Championships on Saturday, May 4th at 2 p.m. from the J.W Isenhour Tennis Center.
Along with South Carolina State, the Wolfpack will host South Carolina and Old Dominion, who will play one another in the match ahead of the Wolfpack at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The winners of the two matches will advance to round two on Sunday, May 5th, at 2 p.m.

All matches for the weekend are free and provide free nearby parking. The first-round match will be streamed live on TrackTennis as well as coverage provided by Cracked Raquets here, and live scores will be available on StatBroadcast here.
Event Parking:
Due to graduation events on campus, no parking permits are needed for this weekend's matches. Nearby parking is available in the West parking deck and Sullivan Lot.
This will be the second straight year NC State and South Carolina State have squared off with one another in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, with the Wolfpack victorious 4-0 to begin their run to their first-ever NCAA championship match.
In last year's match, the Wolfpack got doubles wins from Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli, as well as Amelia Rajecki and Nell Miller. Gina Dittmann is the only returning player from last year's match to have finished with a result, winning 6-1, 6-0 on court six. Abrams, Rajecki, and Rencheli all went unfinished in singles play.
South Carolina State enters the matchup as the MEAC Champion. The Lady Bulldogs are 16-4, and this will be their fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance and 18th in school history.
Wins on Saturday and Sunday would give the winningest head coach in program history, Simon Earnshaw, 200 career wins at NC State.
Over the last four seasons the NCAA Tournament has been played, the Wolfpack are 10-0 in NCAA Tournament Matches at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. (The NCAA tournament during the 2020 season was not played)
Entering the opening round, the Wolfpack are 14th in the nation and are led by three individual singles players, including the No. 2 ranked player in the nation, Amelia Rajecki. Rajecki received the highest ranking in program history and she is joined by Anna Zyryanova at 62 and Rencheli at 71.
In doubles, the senior freshman duo of Rajecki and Maddy Zampardo are 12th in the country, followed by Abrams and Zyryanova at 29.
Both doubles pairings and individually, Rajecki and Zyryanova will all participate in the individual championships held in Stillwater, Okla. from May 20-25.
