Pack Falls to Hokies in Five Innings

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team dropped the final game of the series with Virginia Tech, 12-0, Saturday evening at Dail Softball Stadium.
How it Happened
The Pack will return to Dail Softball stadium to host Queens for a double header on Tuesday, April 9. Game one is set for 4pm and game two will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Both games will be streamed on ACCNX.
How it Happened
- The Hokies wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as the leadoff batter hit a first pitch home run to start things off in the first inning. Virginia Tech went on to record seven more hits to take the 8-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning.
- Both MaKayla Marbury and Madison Inscoe were walked in the bottom of the first, but the Pack was unable to get a runner past second base.
- NC State struggled offensively throughout the evening. It wasn't until the fourth inning that the Wolfpack put a hit on the board – senior Kaylee Lambrecht singled down the right line.
- The Hokies added four more runs to the board in the second and third innings to increase the lead to 12.
- Freshman Kayla Fekel picked up two strikeouts in her 2.2 innings in the circle. She helped stop the Hokies from scoring in the fourth and fifth innings.
- The loss moves NC State to 20-18 on the season, 2-13 in conference play.
