Wrestling Opens Postseason Action at ACC Championships in Chapel Hill

RALEIGH – The seventh-ranked NC State wrestling team is set to compete at the 2024 ACC Championships on Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill at Carmichael Arena. The Wolfpack is hunting for its sixth-straight ACC Championship title after already securing its fifth regular season conference title in the last seven seasons with its regular season finale over Virginia Tech.
As announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference Tuesday afternoon, eight of the 10 members representing the red-and-white are already advanced into the semifinals with first-round byes. Alex Faison (174 lbs) and Dylan Fishback (184 lbs) are scheduled to open competition in the first round beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday morning, while all other members of the Pack will not compete until 1 p.m. in the semifinals.
NC State boasts the most number-one seeds (five) across the 10 weight classes out of the six schools in the conference, followed by Virginia Tech with three.
Trent Hidlay, Kai Orine, and Owen Trephan each earned their championship titles last year inside their home venue, Reynolds Coliseum, and will return to search for another. Orine was named the 2023 ACC Tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler after taking out the number-one seed in overtime in the finals. Camacho returns to the conference tournament after missing last season to injury, he is already a two-time conference champion (2020 and 2022).
A title on Sunday will place Hidlay in the exclusive four-time conference champion club. In the program's history, only five other wrestlers have been able to complete the four-time ACC Champions record, one being his older brother, Hayden.
