Pack To Host Georgia Tech for First Home ACC Series

RALEIGH -- The NC State softball team (14-5, 1-2) is set to host Georgia Tech (14-7, 3-0) for the first home conference series of the 2024 campaign starting on Friday March 8 at Dail Softball Stadium. All three games will be broadcast on ACCNX.

Game one is set to begin at 4pm on Friday March 8 with game two starting approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one (6:30pm). Game three will be played at noon on Sunday March 10th. Tickets for Friday will be valid for both games.

A Win ...

Would move the Pack to 15-5 on the season
Would mark the second win in ACC play for the Pack
Would mark the 11th consecutive win at Dail Stadium this season (if Friday's game is won)
Would be the 240th win at Dail Stadium and 179th ACC win in program history

Noting the Pack

2024 marks the first season under the leadership of first-time head coach Lindsay Leftwich. She came to NC State after spending the last 12 seasons as the top assistant at LSU under Beth Torina.
NC State returns 18 players from its 2023 campaign, including infielder Hannah Goodwin who led the team with a .359 batting average a year ago.
The Pack welcomed six newcomers over the summer, including five freshmen and a transfer.
Tenacious - the best word to describe the 2024 squad. They accept any challenge thrown their way, no matter how difficult it proves to be. Those who were here in 2023 dealt with some interesting circumstances, but stuck together as they knew the future would bring brighter days.
After defeating No. 8/9 Clemson on March 2, the Pack received votes in the week four Softball America Poll. The nod was the first since 2019 that the Pack received votes in a poll.

Series History with Georgia Tech (Tech leads 34-20)

The series will mark the first meeting since 2022 for the two teams -- last met at the 2022 ACC Tournament in Pittsburgh.
The Yellow Jackets have won six of the last 10 meetings with the Wolfpack. When playing in Raleigh, the two teams are tied 12-12.
The last time the Pack defeated the Yellow Jackets, Senior Kaylee Lambrecht was in her first year of collegiate softball (2021).
The Pack has scored as many as 12 runs and as few as zero.
NC State is 1-0 when the game goes into extra innings and 2-2 when it ends in a run-rule with Tech.

Don't Count Them Out

In the 2024 ACC Opener, NC State stunned No. 8/9 Clemson with a 6-2 win.
The win was the first ranked win for the Wolfpack since 2021 and just the second ranked road win in program history.
The Pack almost stole a second game from the Tigers (game three), but Clemson managed to score three runs in both the fourth and fifth inning to take the lead, later finishing with the victory.
Game three was a wild one for the two teams as they combined for 23 runs, 26 hits, 4 walks, and just four strikeouts.
The Tigers recorded just seven strikeouts in the series against the Pack (2-3-2), marking the fewest times the Tigers have struck out an opponent in a series, since their inaugural season 2021.
