
NC State Men’s Tennis Set to Face Notre Dame and Louisville In Weekend Road Trip

RALEIGH, N.C.- No. 23 NC State will be on the road this weekend to take on ACC opponent No. 54 Notre Dame, Friday Mar. 22 at the Eck Tennis Pavilion at 4:00PM. Sunday the Pack will make the trip to Louisville, Kentucky to face No. 35 Louisville, Sunday Mar. 24 at noon.
The Pack will return to play after a twelve day break from competition. The Wolfpack head into the weekend coming off a 4-3 victory over No. 28 Georgia Tech in Raleigh Sunday, Mar. 10 sending the Pack into double digits with a new 10-4 overall record.
Pack in the Rankings:
In the third week of ACC play the Pack checked in at No. 23 in the ITA Team rankings this week. The Pack join ACC opponents such as Wake Forest, Duke, Virginia, and Florida State in the top-25 in ITA charts.
Continuing to make an appearance in singles rankings Senior Robin Catry leads the Pack at the No. 46 spot in ITA singles rankings. Junior Braden Shick is also on the rise in ITA singles rankings, making his way to the No. 67 spot this week in the charts. Shick has kicked off ACC play remaining undefeated 4-0 in singles, along with keeping up with his 9 match win streak.
Junior Luca Staeheli made his first appearance in the charts this week at the No. 103 spot. Staeheli has been a major piece for the Wolfpack in dual play, in charge of clinching match winning points for the Pack in regular season, and conference play this year.
Staeheli and Catry made their first appearance in the charts this week picking up the No. 78 spot in ITA doubles rankings. Joining them is doubles duo Martin Borisiouk, and Joe Wayand checked in at the No. 36 spot this week.
Scouting the Fighting Irish:
The Fighting Irish head into Friday's match coming off a loss 6-1 to No. 3 Virgnia Mar. 17 in Charlottesville, VA. The Fighting Irish have faced ACC opponents Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Virginia so far this season currently holding a 1-3 record in conference play against the four programs. The Pack last faced the Fighting Irish Mar. 24, 2023 when the Wolfpack came out on top 4-0 at home in Raleigh. The Pack currently lead in a 7-3 series over the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame currently sits at the No. 54 spot in ITA team rankings. The Fighting Irish also feature No. 29 Sebastian Dominko in their singles lineup. Clocking in at No. 13 doubles duo Sebastian Dominko, and Jean Marc Malkowski make an appearance in the charts for the Fighting Irish.
NC State vs. Louisville
The Pack last went head to head with the Cardinals last season in Raleigh, in a tight match the Cardinals came out with a 4-3 win over the Wolfpack. Louisville currently leads a 7-6 series between the two programs.
Sunday's match will be broadcasted on ACC Network.
Scouting the Cardinals:
The Cardinals head into the weekend set to take on No. 4 Wake Forest Friday, Mar. 22 at home in Louisville, KY. The Cardinals hold a 12-6 overall record, and 2-2 record in ACC play.
Louisville made an appearance on the ITA team rankings this week at the No. 35 spot. The Cardinals have a collection of ranked players on their roster including No. 45 Singles ranked Etienne Donnet, and No. 90 Will Mayew as well as top ten doubles duo No. 9 Etienne Donnet, and Natan Rodrigues.
Up next: The Pack will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. Friday, Mar. 29 to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
