ATHENS, Ga. – The Wolfpack diving team wrapped up competition at the NCAA Zone B Championships, seeing sophomore Renato Calderaro and freshman Bayleigh Cranford qualify for the NCAA Diving Championships.
Cranford will make her first NCAA championship in her first year with the Pack, as the ACC champion in the women's platform will appear in the same event after finishing third in the finals with a total score of 613.95.
The platform won't be the only event Cranford will be diving in as the freshman also placed sixth in the women's 3m, totaling 611.75 points.
Helene Synnott joined Cranford in the women's 3m final and finished in 17th. (560.80)
For the second straight year, Calderaro will make the trip to the NCAA Championships as he qualified in the men's 3m, totaling 753.35 points. The Rome, Italy native posted a score of 364.05 in prelims (eighth place) and improved on that in the finals, scoring 389.30 points.
Teammate Bayne Benntte in the 3m placed 28th with 309.05 points.
Calderaro also appeared in the finals in the men's 1m and finished eighth (644.10), just outside the automatic qualification spot. However, he can compete in the event in Indianapolis because of his automatic qualification in the men's 3m event.
The women's Championships will take place in Athens, GA, from March 20 to 23, with the men competing a week later, March 27 to 30, in Indianapolis, Ind.
