Pack Records Two Podium Finishes On Opening Day of Shamrock Invite

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The NC State track and field team kicked off the outdoor season today with two athletes picking up podium finishes at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invite.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Throws
Katie Horne kicked off the 2024 outdoor campaign with a bang, finishing first overall in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 41.28m. Horne is coming off of an impressive 2023 outdoor season in which she broke the school record for the javelin throw twice in the span of eight days last April.
Jakerra Covington also threw in the event for the Wolfpack, taking home fourth place after turning in a throw of 38.04m.
In the men's hammer throw, Nathan Lau wrapped up day-one action by finishing third overall with a mark of 52.83m.

The Pack returns to action tomorrow for the second day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invite in Myrtle Beach.
