
No. 22 NC State Travels to Virginia Tech To Begin ACC Play

RALEIGH, N.C.- No. 22 NC State begins ACC play as the team is set to travel to Blacksburg, VA to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies Friday, Mar. 1 at 2:30PM.Â
ÂThe Pack are coming off a strong week of competition after becoming a triple threat to NC Schools, Campbell, Elon, and NC Central. The Pack led a match sweep and gave Head Coach Kyle Spencer something to celebrate Sunday evening. Spencer recorded his 100th career win with the Wolfpack alongside assistant head coach Cris James last Sunday as the Pack took down NC Central 4-0.Â
ÂThe Pack head into ACC play with a 7-3 overall record, and a three game win streak. The Pack last took on the Hokies Apr. 7, 2023 in Raleigh where the Pack defeated Virginia Tech 5-2. The Pack currently hold an eight match win streak against the Hookies evening out the two programs 14-11 overall record which Virginia Tech leads by three.
ÂPack in the rankings:
The Pack have maintained top-25 status in ITA rankings throughout the season only dropping for one week, after its defeat to No. 9 Columbia. The Pack shot back up on the charts after recording its highest victory over a ranked opponent defeating No. 2 South Carolina in Columbia, SC 4-3, Feb. 2.Â
ÂThis week the Pack clocked in at the twenty- two slot in ITA team rankings heading into its two match weekend in Virginia.Â
ÂJuniors Joe Wayand and Braden Shick still feature on the ITA singles rankings alongside Senior Robin Catry who leads the Pack at the No. 61 spot. Shick represents the Pack at the No. 109 spot with Wayand following at the No. 124.
ÂDoubles duo Martin Borisiouk and Joe Wayand also continue to make an appearance in the charts, hanging out at the No. 22 spot in ITA doubles rankings
ÂScouting the Hokies:Â
The Hokies head into Friday's match with a 7-1 overall record. The Hokies faced its lone defeat against Middle Tennessee, Feb. 9 in Murfreesboro, Tenn. when Tech fell short 6-1. NC State will be the first ranked opponent the Hokies have faced so far this season, as well as the first ACC match on the teams agenda.Â
ÂUp Next: The Wolfpack will head across the pond to take on No. 8Â Virginia Sunday, Mar. 3 at 5:30PM in Charlottesville, VA. Concluding Sunday's match the Pack will return to Raleigh to face Clemson Mar. 8 at 5:30PM in the first home ACC match of the season.
