Women’s Basketball to Unveil Final Four Banner at Season Opener vs. ETSU

RALEIGH – The NC State women's basketball team will officially open the 2024-25 season on Tuesday night, as the Pack hosts ETSU. Tuesday's game will tipoff at 7 p.m. and fans are encouraged to be in their seats at 6:50 p.m. for the unveiling of the Final Four banner at Reynolds Coliseum. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Final Four banner replica. The game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
SCOUTING NC STATE
- The Pack returns three starters and eight newcomers that account for 72 percent of its scoring from the NCAA Final Four team
- NC State has been well represented on preseason watch lists. Saniya Rivers and Aziaha James are ACC Preseason Team recipients and were on the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Watch List. Rivers was also one of 20 on the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Preseason Watch List and Madison Hayes was highlighted on the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Preseason Watch List
- A part of the recruiting class that was ranked as high as No. 10 by ESPN, Zamareya Jones was picked on the ACC Newcomer Watch List
- The Pack has one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country, as its opponents have a 2023-24 NET average of 107, which currently stands as second in the ACC and fifth in the country
- Head coach Wes Moore enters year 12 at NC State, his 36th overall, with the second most wins of all active NCAA DI Women's Basketball coaches and fourth of men's and women's coach with 831 career wins
- Reynolds Coliseum is one of the toughest places to play in the country with the program reporting 11 sellouts of its 16 home games this season. NC State is 117-15 (.886) in home games since the renovation in August 2016
SCOUTING ETSU
- ETSU was picked to finish fifth in the Southern Conference after a season going 18-12 in the regular season, 7-7 in SoCon play
- Kendall Folley was named to the Preseason All-SoCon Team. She is coming off averaging 8.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game
- The Buccaneers return four players who averaged more than 4.5 points per game last season
- ETSU brings in four transfers and five freshmen, including Isabella Hunt, a Mount St. Mary's grad transfer, who averaged 8.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game a season ago
- Head coach Brenda Mock Brown is in her third season at the helm and has over 100 career wins at the collegiate level
SERIES HISTORY (NC STATE LEADS SERIES 2-0)
- The season opener marks the third overall meeting between the two teams
- NC State owns the 2-0 edge over the Bucs
- The Pack met the Bucs for the first time on March 19, 2015, resulting in a 73-58 road win the NC State
- In the two victories, NC State has defeated ETSU by an average of 13.5 points
LAST TIME OUT
- The Pack beat Anderson in its preseason exhibition, 91-54
- Freshman Jones paced the Pack with 19 points and nine boards in the start
- Rivers tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds
- All nine players dressed scored at least five points
