RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women's basketball (3-2) sailed to an 89-68 victory over Coastal Carolina (4-1) in wire-to-wire fashion to hand the Chanticleers its first loss of the season. The Pack shot 50 percent from the field for the first time this season, while outrebounding the Chants, 50-31, and assisting on 22 of the Pack's 36 made field goals.
The Pack was led by three players in double figures and Aziaha James (21) and Devyn Quilgey (20) both logged 20-point performances in the win.
NC State won its fifth straight tipoff and got off to a hot start offensively, taking a quick 9-2 lead after a Madison Hayes 3-point play. Hayes kept up her hot shooting and the Pack started 100 percent from the field in the first 3.5 minutes after a Hayes jumper, who had 11 points in the first quarter. Coastal went on a 6-0 run, and at the media timeout taken at 4:29, the Pack led 17-14. The Pack scored four straight points and Coastal responded with a triple. Hayes then delivered once again with a jumper, and at the end of the first, NC State led, 23-17.

Hayes knocked down her third 3-pointer of the game, and after Coastal closed out the game on a 4-0 run, the Pack led, 47-36.
The Pack opened the third quarter with three straight made shots, and a layup by Hayes pulled NC State up by 13, 51-38. A Coastal jumper pulled the Chants to within eight, but that was the closest Coastal would get, as NC State ended the third on a 13-2 run, initiated by a James jumper and 3-pointer. The Pack shutout the Chants in the final 4.5 minutes of the quarter, and a James layup and free throw by Zoe Brooks pushed the Pack to a 19-point lead, 67-58.
Coastal hit a 3-pointer to open the fourth, but Quigley answered with a layup. The Pack then went on an 8-0 run and after triples from Zamareya Jones and Quigley, the Pack led, 77-53 with 7:07 left in the game.
