
Women’s Basketball Defeats Anderson in Exhibition

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women's basketball took down Anderson (S.C.), 91-54, in the Pack's lone exhibition game. Freshman Zamareya Jones paced the way with 19 points and nine boards while veteran guard Saniya Rivers tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Nine players dressed up for the Pack and all nine scored. NC State shot 52 percent from the field and outrebounded Anderson, 55-27. The post player group of Lizzy Williamson, Lorena Awou and Mallory Collier combined for 12-for-15 from the field.
NC State won the tipoff and Maddie Cox got the scoring started with a 3-pointer. The Pack propelled ahead with a 13-0 scoring run out of the media timeout. Saniya Rivers drained a triple as the shot clock expired, and with less than two minutes left in the quarter, the Pack led 23-8. At the end of the first, NC State held a 26-10 advantage.
Anderson went on a 7-0 scoring run, but Cox got the Pack out of the drought with a layup to keep the lead above 20. Zamareya Jones ended the half with two throws to give the Pack a 48-27. Jones ended the first half with a team high 11 points on 4-5 shooting from the field. All players had scored by the half.
Tilda Trygger got back-to-back looks for layups to open the third quarter and the Pack went up by 24 after a Jones layup. Collier finished a tough layup and drew the foul in the process, as NC State led 61-37 with 3:05 left in the third quarter, which was a part of a 10-0 run for the Pack. The Pack led 71-42 going into the fourth quarter.
The Pack outscored the Trojans 20-12 in the fourth quarter. Freshmen Jones and Awou both had six points a piece in that quarter. The Pack propelled to a 91-54 win with five players in double digits.
