Breaking Down the Match
- The two programs were in a back-and-forth battle to start with neither team leading by more than one point. A block assist by Jada Allen and Madison Williams started a 4-0 scoring run for the Wolfpack. NC State earned its 10th point after Clemson was called for being out of rotation which also gave senior libero Skye Stokes her first ace of the afternoon.
- Clemson managed to minimize the deficit to two (11-9) but NC State continued to respond and pushed the lead back to four (13-9), forcing the Tigers to call a timeout.
- Prior to the first timeout of the match, the Wolfpack tallied three service aces. Clemson didn't record its first service ace until Kate Hensen tallied one to record the Tigers 12th point.
- Head coach Luka Slabe called his first timeout of the frame after Clemson minimized the lead to one (17-16) with a service ace from Devan Taylor. The Pack thought it increased the lead back to two, but Clemson challenged the call and NC State was found in the net, reversing the point to be in favor of the Tigers.
- Clemson took a one-point lead (19-18) but the Pack immediately tied things up. The Tigers regained the lead, but Slabe used a challenge and won after Clemson was found to be in the net, giving NC State the lead (20-19). The two teams exchanged points, and Slabe used another challenge to tie things 24-all. An attack error by the Tigers gave the Pack the opening frame, 26-24.
- Junior outside hitter Courtney Bryant led all scorers with five kills.
- The Tigers opened the second set with a 3-1 lead, but NC State worked to tie things four-all. Slabe used his first timeout of the frame after the Tigers increased the lead to three (8-5).
- The Wolfpack continued to trail throughout the set as the Tigers blockers were hot and helped give Clemson a four-point lead (18-14).
- A kill by Courtney Bryant gave the Pack its 18th point and spearheaded a 4-0 scoring run that eventually tied the frame 22-all. Senior opposite Amanda Rice recorded back-to-back service aces that forced two quick timeouts by the Tigers.
- Stokes third service ace of the match allowed the Pack to hit set point and a setter dump kill by fifth-year Naomi Cabello ended the frame with NC State on top, 26-24.
- Bryant continued to lead all scorers with nine kills and fellow junior Ava Brizard added eight.
- Momentum shifted in the third set for the Wolfpack after Slabe used his third challenge of the afternoon that was successful after it was found the Pack did not touch the ball on the block. The Wolfpack would go on to take the lead and maintain it for the rest of the set.
- Both Rice (3) and Stokes (4) tied their season high in service aces during the third set.
- The Wolfpack shut down the Tigers and took the third set, 25-20.
- The win marked the third straight over the Tigers and the sixth win since Slabe took over the program in 2020.
- The win marked the 11th of the season, sixth in conference play, 811th overall in program history, 209th ACC win in program history, and the 73rd win under Slabe.
