RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State volleyball team is set to hit the road for its second conference road trip of the month. The Pack will face Notre Dame in South Bend on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6:30pm before heading to Kentucky to take on the fourth-ranked Cardinals on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1pm. Both matches will be streamed on ACCNX.
The Basics of the Matchups
- Friday's meeting in South Bend will mark the 14th between Notre Dame and NC State. The Pack has won seven of the last ten meetings, including the last three.
- The last meeting in South Bend ended with the Wolfpack on top, 3-1.
- Sunday's tilt with Louisville will mark just the 11th meeting between the two programs since the Cardinals joined the ACC in 2014. The Wolfpack have only won two of the previous 10 meetings, including last year's dominant 3-1 win in Reynolds Coliseum when the Cards were ranked fifth in the nation. The win marked several milestones for the Wolfpack program -- first win over a top-5 opponent, first ranked win in Reynolds Coliseum, the second win over a top-25 team.
A Win/Wins Would ...
- be the 203rd and 204th ACC win in program history
- be the 8010th and 811th overall win in program history
- be the 72nd and 73rd under head coach Luka Slabe
- be the fifth and sixth conference win this season
- be the 10th and 11th win of the season
Milestone Watch
- Sophie Groom - 25 kills from 500
- Ava Brizard - 219 kills from 1,000
- Martyna Leoniak - 87 kills from 500
- Jada Allen - 34 blocks from 400
- Amanda Rice - 130 kills from 1,000
A Family Affair
- Fifth year setter Naomi Cabello will lineup against a familiar face in Sunday's match against Louisville -- her younger sister Nayelis, a freshman setter for the Cardinals.
- Sunday marks the first time the two have ever taken the court together.
What a Jump
- The Wolfpack checked in at 33 in this week's RPI rankings, jumping 27 spots from last week.
- The ranking is the highest in program history to date. Last year, the Pack checked in at 43 in the first RPI ranking of the 2023 season, which was the lowest ranking to date at the time in program history.
