RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 23 NC State men's soccer (5-2-5) collected its third consecutive draw Tuesday night in a ranked match-up with No. 21 Hofstra (9-3-2) at the Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh that resulted in a 1-1 tie.
The Wolfpack reentered the United Soccer Coaches Poll rankings today at No. 23 to make the first-ever men's soccer meeting between NC State and Hofstra a ranked one.
The red-and-white ended its nearly three week long scoring drought in the 24th minute when Hakim Karamoko curved in a left footer outside the top of the 18-yard box off of a feed from right back, Yves Tcheuyap.
Hofstra struck back in the 40th minute to even out the scoreboard when Teddy Baker serviced a corner-kick that connected with Jacob Woznicki's head.
Going into halftime, the two were level at one a piece and unfortunately neither time would finally another scoring opportunity for the rest of the night.
The second half brought numerous close scoring opportunities for both sides of the ball but neither were able to find the back of the net. The Wolfpack had double the amount of shots in the second half compared to the first, recording 12 in the last 45 minutes alone.
NC State combined for 18 shots and eight shots on goal to force seven saves by the Pride's goalkeeper. Logan Erb, tallied four saves in goal for the Pack to limit Hofstra from gaining a lead. Shots were fired across the board from several players as Henrique Santos, Taig Healy, Drew Lovelace, and Donavan Phillip each had three a piece while Vusumzi Plamana, Aidan Payne, and Hakim Karamoko posted two each.
