RALEIGH, N.C. – After another undefeated weekend and advancing to the ITA Indoor Championships, Amelia Rajecki was named ACC Player of the Week, and Sophie Abrams and Anna Zyryanova took home doubles team of the week honors.
Rajecki has yet to drop a single set all season, as she helped guide the No. 7 Wolfpack to a 2-0 weekend and a trip to the ITA Indoor Championships for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The senior posted a win over Alabama's No. 18 Loudmilla Bencheikh, 6-0, 6-2, finishing first on Court 1. She then defeated Clemson's Eleni Louka, 6-0, 6-2, to lead NC State to a 4-0 win. With the two singles wins, the Nottingham, England, native sits fifth all-time on the Wolfpack career singles win list with 87.
Abrams and Zyryanova continue to lead the Wolfpack in doubles play, adding two more wins to stay undefeated at 4-0 on the season. The No. 9 ranked pair has been the first to finish their match all season to help NC State secure the doubles point, and as a team, the Wolfpack has yet to drop a point to an opponent. They had little trouble in their first-ranked matchup against Alabama, winning 6-3. With the win, Abrams entered the Wolfpack's top 10 for career doubles wins with 64, putting her ninth on the list.
The Wolfpack prepares for their first road trip of the season as they travel to Knoxville, Tennessee, to take on the Lady Volunteers on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m.
