Groom Joins the Pack

RALEIGH – NC State volleyball head coach Luka Slabe announced the addition of transfer Sophie Groom to the roster Thursday morning.
Slabe said, "We are welcoming Sophia Groom from Orlando. Sophie will strengthen our middle blocker position for the next two seasons and help our program take another step forward. We are excited to welcome her to the Wolfpack family."
Groom joins the Pack after two seasons at Stetson, where she was the Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year in 2022. She appeared in all but four matches throughout the last two seasons.
The 6-2 middle blocker from Orlando led the Hatters with 123 blocks during the 2023 season, to average 1.14 per set. She led the ASUN in solo blocks with a total of 30. On the offensive side, she finished her sophomore season with a .315 hitting percentage while averaging 2.16 kills per set and 3.00 points per set.
Off the volleyball court, Groom was a member of the Dean's List every semester while at Stetson. In high school, she was a member of National Honor Society, English honors Society, Athletic Honor Society, and graduated with high honor roll status.
